Thaithaaro! Onam Celebrated with Grandeur

We celebrated Onam today with an atmosphere of festivity, colour, and cultural pride. The programme, titled "Thaithaaro," brought together students, staff, and management for a joyous celebration of Kerala's harvest festival.

The event began with an introduction by Vice Principal Mrs. Reena Daniel, followed by a prayer offered by Class 10. Mrs. Sumal Raj K. J. delivered the welcome speech, setting a warm tone for the celebrations, before the traditional and much-awaited welcome to Maveli drew delighted cheers from the students.

Principal Sr. Sheeja SCV shared an inspiring message with the gathering, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the formal start of the cultural programme. Fr. Dr. Samuel Paickkattethu delivered the inaugural address, gracing the occasion with his presence.

The cultural segment showcased the vibrant talent of the school's students. A solo performance by Binsa, along with Kaikottikali by Class 6, dance performances by Class 5 and Class 7, and a story session by Veda S. Krishnan kept the audience thoroughly entertained. Class 10 also presented a beautiful Thiruvathira, adding grace to the celebrations. The Onapattu competition saw enthusiastic participation, with prizes awarded to the winners.

The programme also included a felicitation address by Mrs. Anu Kokkattu, PTA President, and the much-loved Pulikali performance, which brought colour and energy to the celebrations. Winners of the various competitions were honoured on stage, and Mrs. Amritha Kumari proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who made the celebration a success.

Following the formal programme, the campus came alive with traditional Onam games, in which students participated with great enthusiasm and team spirit. The games added a fun-filled and energetic close to a day full of tradition, culture, and togetherness.

The celebration stood as a wonderful reflection of the rich cultural heritage of Kerala, and a testament to the spirit of unity and joy that Onam brings to the Infant Jesus Central School community.

The day's festivities came to a delightful close with a traditional Onasadya, served on banana leaves, as students and staff came together to relish the authentic flavours of the harvest feast.
